Frequently Asked Questions & Contact
We want your experience at the Natikari private reserve to be perfect from start to finish. Here are the answers to the questions we get most often.
What to Bring & What to Leave Behind
What do I need to bring?
As long as you bring yourself, we will put a smile on your face, wonder in your eyes and probably some sweat on your forehead!
We do recommend that you wear comfortable hiking shoes with a non-slip sole and long trousers. The area is NOT mosquito infested in the dry season, but there are always some, so if you know your are a mosquito's favorite, wear a light long-sleeved shirt.
We also recommend bringing your refillable water bottle. If you need any medication, remember to bring it and don't forget to advise our staff about any medical conditions might have. You are welcome to bring your binoculars, camera, or favorite hiking stick—just remember you will have to carry it and look after it.
What can't I bring?
You will have to leave your pets at home. If you depend on a guide animal for any reason to get around, please contact us to discuss your needs and we will see if we can make it happen.
Please refrain from bringing single-use plastic. We are aiming to be zero waste, and trust us, that is already enough of a challenge without a daily addition of plastic wrappers and bags! Thank you for your cooperation.

If we need to cancel the tour due to weather, we will offer you a full refund or the option to reschedule. Remember, even without heavy rain, the jungle is extremely humid, so bring your quick-drying clothes!
Tour Details & Accessibility
How difficult are the tours?
We offer a range of difficulty levels:
-
Easy: Birding Tours, Donkey Family Adventure, and Creatures of the Night Adventure. These tours focus on observation and are suitable for guests with limited mobility or young children.
-
Intermediate: Jungle Hike and Jungle Expedition. These trails are 4.5km to 7km long with a 160-meter elevation gain and include narrow, steep sections and riverbeds. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
Can I bring my children?
Absolutely! We love welcoming families.
-
The Donkey Family Adventure is specifically designed for families with young children.
-
The Jungle Hike is not suitable for small children (under 7 years) due to the trail length and difficulty.
Can I ride the donkeys?
No.
Can you accommodate guests with mobility issues?
The full hiking trails are challenging. However, our Birdsong Breakfast is an excellent option for guests with limited mobility, as much of the observation takes place from our stationary, comfortable palapa and garden area.
