Natikari Nature Tours with Katja

I am a passionate biologist from Germany, and I bring my scientific expertise to the Natikari project. My journey to Sayulita began with a visit where I met Hernan and immediately fell in love with the reserve. Inspired by the conservation efforts, I packed my bags and left my home in England to dedicate myself to the Natikari project.

My career as a biologist has been a lifelong passion, starting with observing birds at a feeder as a child. My academic work has included everything from modeling complex behaviors with neural networks to studying how climate change and non-native species impact freshwater ecosystems. I aim to ensure every tour is a deeply educational and fun experience.

I will be the one leading you on your tour, and you’ll find me just as passionate about the local flora and fauna as I am about our three beloved donkeys: Doña Peluda, Doña Cabrona, and Rain. Doña Peluda, the cuddly one, and Doña Cabrona, the clever one from the Sierra, were joined a few years ago by Rain, the surprise son of Doña Peluda.
